7 Rug Care Tips
1. Vacuum your Rug
The most important step towards long-lasting beauty, comfort and durability with your rug is to vacuum it regularly. This prevents soil from becoming embedded in the rugs pile. Always vacuum and clean in the direction of the pile, cleaning and vacuuming against the pile can cause damage to your Rug.
2. Use a spoon for spills
Spills should be treated directly by scooping the stain from your rug with a round spoon. Always move in the direction of the pile, not against it! After removing most of the stain with your spoon, pour salt over the spot which will absorb the liquid like a sponge. Once the salt has soaked up the liquid use the round spoon again to pick up the remaining and rinse the spot with a moist towel.
3. Loose Threads
If there are any loose threads in your carpet please vacuum first, don’t pull them out. If the loose threads are still there after vacuuming, cut them with sharp scissors.
4. Rugs in Sunlight
If your rug is placed in the sunlight it is important to rotate it 180 degrees every now and then, because of the sunlight it is possible that there will be a colour difference in your rug. By rotating your rug you will let your rug colour in an even way. Over time any material left in direct sunlight will fade.
5. Storage and Moving
Roll your rug when you want to storage or move it. This prevents creases and folds from forming in the rug. Storage your rug rolled up in a dark and cool place to protect it against damp and moist.
6. Once a year
Vacuum the back of your rug every year to make sure that there is no more dust and dirt stuck in your rug.
7. The Important don’ts
Don’t use chemical cleaning products for your rug. Don’t use a lot of water when you clean stains. Don’t vacuum against the pile.
